The New Beginning

“The Inspiration for this lively take on classical French design is, of course, in the heart of the life and times of 18th century Versaillesand its environs.  Versailleswas the epicenter
of western popular culture, and can be compared to the Hollywood of this past century. The stars were the Royals and their court; imagine Louis XV as Elvis and Madame de Pompadour as Marilyn.  So influential and exciting was news of life at the French Court that a single social occurrence would reverberate in great detail to royal courts throughout Europe the very next morning.  All that we know of this enlightened age and life at Versailles is still a source of great entertainment 250 years later.  Certainly, this was among the greatest époques in western history.  The whole of western society took their cue from French philosophy, literature, entertainment, style and design.  The concepts of pleasure and luxury may not have been born atVersailles, but it was here perfected."

“Human comfort was reinvented, the likes of which had not been seen since ancientRome.Versailleswas much more than dusty antiques, Divine right, historical dates and heroic portraits. Versaillesalso brings to life the excitement and opulence of a society newly reborn in an affluent age.  There was time for thinkers to think, dreamers to dream, lovers to love and designers to design.  Setting the stage for this epic age, Louis XIV had organized skilled trades to create a cartel that cornered the luxury goods market well into the 20th century. Outrageous new colors became possible in the form of a new fiber called silk. Champagne, became the new boisson divine. There was a new appreciation for classical mythology, and of nature and natural forms.  Creative new ideas and concepts burst onto society like a cornucopia.  The need for fortresses had passed; society had become organized to a point where people could live in open airy homes outside the walls of cities.  Great strides were being realized in social reform, human thought, music, theatre, science and technology.  Eyeglasses were invented, the world was enlightened.  It was like the entire western world had been released from the dungeons."

“Pierre is the creative spirit of this youthful concept of a world with a new beginning. It takes the good, fun, excitement and intelligence learned from a life long study of the lives and times of 18th century French society and rolls them into a fresh stylish and hip young collection of luxury furnishings faithful to the rhythms of the age.  This is where and when fashion enters the home, intelligently”.
